Jason Covington resigned his position on the gate committee due to work and family responsibilities. Fred Steinmetz will assume responsibility for issuing gate cards, changing gate directory information, and assigning special gate codes for property owners.
Rich Hirsch and Mike Leiweke will continue their duties in keeping the gate operational. By the way if you see the gate arm broken, or the gate up when it should be down, or the gate down when it should be up, call Rich or Mike and it will be fixed.
Gate Cards
Gate access cards are now available from members of the Gate Committee. Cards are still $5 per card. Forms are available at the website or from members of the Gate Committee.
Gate Operation
There were NO intentional entry gate breaks in the last month. I believe this is a record.
There were, however a few problems with the gate:
July 16 (Sun) at about 9:00 PM The entry and exit gates both seized in the down position. The gate arms had to be removed Sunday night as turning the units OFF and then ON did not fix the problem. Reseting the microcontrollers the next day restored normal operation. Heat may have been partly responsible for the failure.
July 18 (Tue) at about 9:00 PM The entry gate seized in the down position. Reseting the microcontroller restored normal operation.
July 17 (Mon) The OEM gate operation timer failed. It was replaced with a generic unit from Lowes and a few readily available electronic components.
It appears that the gate performed as designed during the 18hr power failure in that the gate arms were in the raised position when I checked them the day after the power went off. (I removed the gate arms until power was fully restored just to be safe.)
Miscellany
Thanks to Charlie Lents for donating a roll of sticky reflective tape for mounting on the gate arm to increase visibility.

On Sat. July 15 the Volunteers cut and trimmed grass and hedges around the Community house and the area around the Southside bridge.
