Dear LTPOA Board
For the past year I have worked with the Jefferson County Health Department to evaluate the quality of Lake Tishomingo water. I am happy to say that Lake quality has improved dramatically in the last year. With the help of Joe Hainline, Steve Buck and Reggie Weiss, from the Jefferson County Health Department, we have be able to identify and correct situations which can cause lake quality problems.
The Health Department has promised to work with me further to keep on top of identifying water quality problems before they get out of hand. This has been accomplished and will continue to be evaluated on a regular basis by testing each individual cove, four designated areas of the lake channel and Sand Creek which feeds into Lake Tishomingo. Steps will also be made to evaluate water quality which comes from runoff streams at the back of each cove.
I will be seeking volunteers from each cove to report regularly on the status of properties in and around their coves. In this way we will be able to not only identify but be assistance to residents who might be experiencing leakage in their areas. We will further address problems with unsafe, unmaintained docks, derelict boats, and unmaintained seawalls.
As I have stated, "The Lake water quality looks to be in good, swimable shape." We will continue to improve the quality of our Lake water so that you, your family and friends can continue to enjoy this wonderful resource.
Your loyal servant,
Jerry F. Uhlenbrock
